'Eye of the Storm'

I wanted the piece to be
reminiscent of a tornado,
a ring of movement,
a whirlpool.

My ideas stem from an interest in
biology and the natural world
with many sources of inspiration – animal,
vegetable or mineral.
Lately I’m using black glass -
it seems to suck in the light,
appear so dense and unglasslike,
and have such a sinister quality.
